What It Is
Agnikul Cosmos is a Chennai-based spacetech startup incubated at IIT Madras, founded in 2017 by Srinath Ravichandran (CEO), Moin SPM, Prof. Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy and Janardhana Raju. Designs and manufactures orbital-class launch vehicles powered by 3D-printed engines. Made history on 30 May 2024 by successfully launching Agnibaan SOrTeD (Sub-Orbital Test Demonstrator) — the world's first rocket with a single-piece fully 3D-printed engine (Agnilet) — from Agnikul Launchpad-01, India's first private launchpad at SDSC-SHAR Sriharikota. Agnibaan is a 2-stage / 3-stage small-lift launch vehicle capable of placing 100 kg to 700 km LEO. Engines Agnilet (semi-cryogenic) and Agnite (booster, 3D-printable in 7 days at 1/10th conventional cost) — Agnikul holds a US patent for world's largest single-piece 3D-printed Inconel rocket engine. Cluster of four 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engines successfully fired at Agnikul Rocket Factory 1 (May 2026).
